What I have Done
I have spent the last two years in the BYU MBA program studying global supply chain. I have taken classes ranging in topics from supply chain logistics to quality control. Additionally I have spent the last two years fulfilling additional requirements so that I could receive the Global Business Certificate issued by BYU (pictured below). Additional information about the Global Business Certificate can be found here.
As part of the requirements to receive my Global Business Certificate I was required to complete foreign language requirements. Having lived for two years in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I was fluent and conversational Mongolian, but had not worked on professional Mongolian. I completed multiple reading and writing requirements as well as watching Mongolian Shark Tank to help me get familiar with business language. Below is an image of my resume translated into Mongolian.
For my summer internship between my first and second year in the MBA program I sought out and landed an internship in a multinationl corporation, Micron Technology. I worked as a Supplier Management Intern with team members in both Asia and America in working to overcome supply chain problems. Below is a picture of me in my Micron hat that I was gifted as an inter.
I also was selected as a Savage Scholar for the second year of my MBA program. As a Savage Scholar I participated in consulting with companies in helping them to resolve their supply chain issues. As part of the Savage Scholar program I took an international trip to Greece where we met and consulted with companies on topics surrounding global supply chain. The picture below is a picture that we took as a group of Savage Scholars in front of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
Where I am Headed
I am currently looking for opportunities in global supply chain for after I graduate with my MBA degree. I want to be able to work in a position that will allow me to work internationally in helping to solve the supply chain issues that have become increasingly apparent over the past two years.
My 5-10 plan includes purchasing a smaller manufacturing business and improving and growing that business using the global supply chain skills that I have gained through my experience and my upcoming career.
What I Bring
I come from an analytical background having studied and worked as a chemical engineer. I have also spent considerable time and effort teaching myself how to use powerful computer tools such as Python and SQL so that I could have these skills to impliment in my career. In addition to the powerful analytical background and skillset that I gained as an engineer I have built a strong business foundation through my education in the BYU MBA program. I want to bring both my analytical background and business education to bear as I "go forth to serve" in the world.
